Roll out regional centers for teacher/administrator professional development housed at a county superintendent's office

Reading

Kindergarten and first grade parents receive information on student reading and expectation of reading by the end of the third grade

Move On When Ready

Students in districts that have volunteered for this program begin earning Grand Canyon diplomas, which are exempt from all other Arizona graduation requirements and may continue academic preparation for university admission or may graduate early to pursue career and technical studies

Assessments

Arizona will have a new assessment testing student's preparedness for college and careers that will be technology based and used to drive instruction.

The new assessment will be fully implemented, including end of course assessments tied to student's grades.

2016

Review

Scores from the new assessments will be used to set the graduation requirements starting with the class of 2017

Move On When Reading

Third graders with AIMS reading scores far below third grade level will not be promoted except with good cause exemptions

Every student will take the new assessment fully online.
